Privacy Policy — Consensus Weather
Summary
- Weather forecasts are requested from Open-Meteo (third-party weather API).
- Precipitation radar tiles may be loaded from RainViewer’s public API.
- Model weights, forecast history, and preferences are stored on your device.
- Location is optional. You can search for a city without enabling GPS.
- We do not create user accounts or sell your personal data.
Location (optional)
If you enable device location, the App may use your approximate coordinates to fetch forecasts for that place. You can turn this off at any time and use city search instead. Location is used only to request weather data for the selected place.
Network requests
When you refresh weather data, the App contacts Open-Meteo services (forecast, archive, air quality, marine/tides where available, and geocoding) with the coordinates or place name you chose. Open-Meteo’s terms apply: open-meteo.com.
When you open the radar layer, the App may fetch map tiles and precipitation composites from RainViewer’s public weather-maps API and basemap tiles (e.g. Carto). Those services receive the map region you view.
On-device storage
The App stores on your device:
- Preferred location name and coordinates
- Active forecast models and learned model weights
- Recent forecast vs actual history used for learning
- Theme, units, alerts prefs, streak, and first-run flags
- Optional offline snapshot of the last successful forecast
This data stays on the device unless you clear it (Settings → Reset learning) or uninstall / clear app data.
Clipboard (optional)
If you use Share or Export AI Feed, text or JSON is copied to the system clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere. That content is not uploaded by the App to our servers (the App has no backend of its own).
What we do not do
- We do not require sign-in.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use the App for advertising tracking profiles.
- We do not provide emergency or official severe-weather warnings.
Children
The App is a general weather utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as the App evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
